The more data you gather - video files, games, software backups etc. the more space you need. It's one thing to buy an additional hard disk but where would you connect it to if your motherboard is out of connections?
Well , in my case it wasn't just the motherboard that was out of connections , it was also my old PCI Sata\IDE card too .This card was an old VIA PCI interface card that had 3 SATA connections and one IDE connection. 2 of the SATA connections were internal and 1 was external positioned towards the back of the case. The IDE connection was internal as well.
As I gathered more hard disks from scrapped machines and previous upgrades i made, I came to a point I that I had not enough connections in my current machine to actually use these new precious storage solutions…
After browsing E-bay for a while I bought this:
It comes with 6 (!) SATA connections which 4 are internal and 2 are external. The bundle comes with 2 SATA cables , 1 user's manual and 1 driver cd.
Installation process was fast and simple.
The card supports RAID (redundant array of independent disks) which allows the 2 hard disks to be written to at the same time as if they were one disk, which improves performance.
